In addition to recruiting global farmers, Earthmade has gained an ally in a man who has made it his life mission to understand the health of our plant. Shapiro has been involved with sustainable agricultural and agroforestry systems, pattern recognition, plant breeding, molecular biology and genetics for over 40 years. He has worked with indigenous communities, NGO’s, governmental agencies and the private sector around the world.
A former university professor for 15 years, Fulbright Scholar, Ford Foundation Fellow, Fellow of the World Agroforestry Center, Chairperson of the External Advisory Board of the Agriculture Sustainability Institute at UC Davis, and numerous additional accolades, Shapiro has certainly proved he has the experience and vast knowledge of the very critical status of the world’s agricultural crisis. With Earthmade, he continues looking for solutions.
Shapiro agrees that the beauty of Earthmade is taking something that is natural and made from the earth to solve something also natural and made from the earth. As Mike Dobbins explained it, “Using beneficial fungus and bacterias, we outperformed every single chemical. I’ve struggled to believe it to be true. You CAN have zero residue food, you CAN heal our food system.”
