Even if we had enough healthy food to feed everyone in the world, we still need to address the fact that we as humans need to make better choices when it comes to what we eat. According to the EAT-Lancet Commission Summary Report, “Unhealthy diets now pose a greater risk to morbidity than unsafe sex, alcohol, drug, and tobacco use combined.”
Our body’s health is highly dependent on the balance of healthy microbes that live within our system, known as our microbiome. When we choose healthier, fresh food, our microbiome remains healthy and balanced. When we choose unhealthy food, it can disrupt our microbiomes enough to cause disease and other serious health problems.
